Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson Appointed to Advanced Nuclear State Collaborative

Phoenix, Ariz. – The Advanced Nuclear State Collaborative (ANSC) announced the appointment of Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson to its esteemed board. Márquez Peterson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the collaborative, which is focused on promoting the development and deployment of advanced nuclear technologies.

Lea Márquez Peterson has an impressive background in the energy sector, having served in various leadership roles across public service and industry. Her deep understanding of energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and innovation make her an invaluable addition to the ANSC.

The Advanced Nuclear State Collaborative is a leading organization dedicated to fostering cooperation between states in the pursuit of advanced nuclear reactor research, development, and deployment. Its primary objectives include facilitating innovation, promoting a favorable policy environment, and creating new economic opportunities within the energy sector.

In her new role, Commissioner Márquez Peterson will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, shaping policy recommendations, and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders. She will play a pivotal role in advancing the ANSC's mission to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies leveraging her knowledge of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, the largest nuclear power plant in the nation. The plant is a critical asset to the Southwest, generating more than 32 million megawatt-hours annually – enough power for more than 4 million homes and businesses.
