Update: Special Open Meeting, March 27, 2024 (revised)
Phoenix, Ariz. - The Special Open meeting held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to consider the EPCOR Water Arizona, Inc. and Rio Verde Utilities Recommended Order and Opinion (WS-01303A-22-0236 and WS-02156A-22-0237) concluded with the Chairman pulling the item to postpone voting until the Open Meeting on April 9, 2024. No final action on this matter was taken Thursday.
The utility originally filed this rate case in 2022. It is asking the Commission for approval to consolidate several wastewater districts within its operation and to change the rates it charges its customers for water and wastewater services.
Each of the five commissioners expressed concern about the proposed Recommendation Opinion and Order, and thoroughly discussed the impact this decision would have on residential ratepayers, specifically those in EPCOR Water Arizona, Inc.’s Luke 303 Wastewater District service area in the West Valley.
