Commissioner Tovar Hosts Town Hall on Water Pressure Issues in Litchfield Park

Oct 25, 2023, 14:39 by JP Martin

Litchfield Park, Ariz. — Low water pressure disrupts our day-to-day lives and can pose significant safety risks to health and fire suppression. The Commission has a duty to ensure customers receive safe and reliable service from their regulated utilities. Arizona Corporation Commissioner Anna Tovar is hosting a Town Hall for customers to voice their concerns about the water pressure issues in Liberty Utilities' Litchfield Park service territory.

Event Details:

  • Date:                  November 9, 2023
  • Time:                  6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
  • Location:           Celebration Hall at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 400 S Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Docket:                        W-00000A-23-0241

The event aligns with the Arizona Corporation Commission's ongoing investigation into Liberty Utilities Water Pressure Issues within its Existing Service Territory.

Why This Matters:
Over the summer, numerous reports of low water pressure have raised safety concerns. Documentation from the company shows portions of Liberty’s system fell below 20 pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure at least twice during the summer. Falling below 20 psi in any part of the water system significantly increases the risk that contaminates will backflow into the water system. A system operating below 20 psi becomes vulnerable to bacteria from groundwater or dirt seeping into the pipe and affecting the water supply. Falling below 20 psi also jeopardizes the ability of fire hydrants to safely operate during an emergency.

Commissioner Tovar wants to hear from you. Your input will help the Arizona Corporation Commission evaluate the pressure issues and inform its next steps to make sure Liberty is providing safe and reliable service to all customers. This Town Hall is an important part of our ongoing investigation.

Customers are also encouraged to file their complaints online here or through the Commission's dedicated hotline at (602) 542-4251
