Phoenix, Ariz. – Arizona is making strides in renewable energy generation and ranks among the Top 10 states in the nation for total solar generation and growth since 2014. Environment America Research & Policy Center recently released its online dashboard, Renewables on the Rise 2024, which tracks the status of states’ clean energy progress. Currently, 43% of Arizona’s in-state electricity is generated from clean energy sources, 27% of which comes from nuclear and 16% from renewable sources.
Arizona is among the leaders in the nation in several clean energy categories.
“During my tenure as Chairman, the Commission has approved the addition of thousands of megawatts of renewables and battery storage solutions to further diversify our generation to meet the demand of our growing economy. I am proud of our Great State of Arizona for its high rankings for renewable energy installation, while at the same time balancing those resources with firm dispatchable resources to keep our grid one of the most stable in the nation,” said Chairman Jim O’Connor.
“We are proud of our work at the Commission ensuring reliable energy in Arizona while growing our renewable energy generation. A balanced approach is necessary to ensure that we do not have rolling brownouts like nearby states and that utility rates remain affordable,” said Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson.
