Phoenix, Ariz. – Arizona residents are encouraged to participate by providing public comment in the upcoming Contingency Open Meeting of the Arizona Corporation Commission scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM. There are several items on the agenda, including Discussion, Consideration, and Possible Vote Regarding the Recommended Opinion and Order in the 2024 APS Rehearing (Grid Access Charge), and formal Recommended Order regarding the “Arizona Corporation Commission Policy Statement Regarding Formula Rates” (AU-00000A-23-0012). The Commission will also conduct a Staff Open Meeting on December 17, 2024, to discuss potential violations by the office of Commissioner Tovar. The Staff Open Meeting is open to the public for listen only callers. The Commissioners will only hear public comment during the Contingency Open Meeting from those who submit requests prior to the beginning of the meeting at 9:00 AM.
Members of the public who plan to attend the hearing have several options:
Public input is welcome and oftentimes informative to the Commission. Members of the public who would like to speak on the matter during the hearing must submit a “Request to Speak” BEFORE the start of the hearing. Public comment is not available for the Staff Open Meeting.
Registered members of the public can provide comment during the meeting either in-person, telephonically, or through video conferencing. There are TWO options to submit a “Request to Speak":
- In the section “Request to Speak at Open Meetings, click one of the options
- Click on the hearing date 12/17/2024 9:00 AM
- Click on agenda item number you wish to speak on
- Complete request form, then click on the green “submit” tab.
The Chairman will have access to the list of submitted requests and will call persons to speak at the appropriate time. Each speaker will be provided three minutes for public comment. The Chairman has sole discretion in calling on persons to speak and may ask persons with similar comments to designate a representative to speak on their behalf. If so, the representative of the group will be provided five minutes for public comment.
