Jan 7, 2025, 13:28 by Nicole Garcia

Phoenix, Ariz.— At the Arizona Corporation Commission’s Special Open Meeting on January 6, 2025, the Commission held a swearing-in ceremony where the newly elected Commissioners Lea Márquez Peterson, Rene Lopez, and Rachel Walden took their oaths of office.

“I look forward to serving with our three newly elected commissioners,” stated Commissioner Myers, “It has been a joy to serve with Commissioner Márquez Peterson for the past two years and I know Commissioners Lopez and Walden will be a terrific addition to the Commission who will likewise prioritize reliable and affordable utility services for Arizona customers.”

Upon the newly elected Commissioners taking office, the new Commission unanimously selected Commissioner Kevin Thompson as its next chairman. And for the first time in Arizona history, the Commissioners created the position of vice chairman at the Commission and unanimously selected Commissioner Nick Myers as its first vice chairman.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve Arizonans in this new role,” commented Vice Chairman Myers, “Chairman Jim O’Connor has done an outstanding job as chairman and has set the bar high for that position. I am confident Chairman Thompson will meet the challenge and I know we will work well together to continue the Commission’s current momentum. Our priorities must remain improving Arizona’s regulatory environment and keeping utility services reliable and affordable so that Arizona can be the best state to live, work, and raise a family, and  continue to attract the economic investment and development our great state is known for.”
