Phoenix, Ariz.— At the Arizona Corporation Commission’s (ACC) April 8, 2026, regular open meeting, Chairman Nick Myers joined the Commission in a 5-0 vote to approve a reduction in UNS Electric’s (“UNSE”) Purchased Power and Fuel Adjustment Clause surcharge (“PPFAC”) from May 1, 2026, through December 3l, 2026 (E-04204A-26-0031).

This new PPFAC rate will result in an approximate monthly bill credit of $18.50 for a residential customer with an average consumption of 884 kWh/per month.

“As we are approaching the summer heat, I am glad the Commission was able to provide some rate relief for customers in Kingman, Lake Havasu, Nogales and other smaller communities in Mohave and Santa Cruz counties,” stated Chairman Myers.

In combination with the Commission’s approval of UNSE’s updated Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff surcharge (“REST”) (E-04204A-20-0198) and its adoption of Vice Chair Walden’s Revised Amendment No. 1, a residential customer with an average consumption of 884 kWh/per month will see an overall bill decrease of approximately $15.50.  

“As regulators we often have to make difficult decisions as we balance the various interests involved in ratemaking,” concluded Chair Myers. “In this case, I am pleased that our difficult decision to address the PPFAC in 2023 has resolved the problem and resulted in a meaningful reduction in rates for UNSE customers through the end of the year.”
