The following is a list of programs that may offer assistance with your gas bill or you may contact your local gas provider to inquire about programs in your area.
Statewide:
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program:
This program is offered by the Department of Economic Security. This program directs assistance payments to utility companies on behalf of individuals that are having difficulty in paying their utility bills. They also offer assistance in weatherizing your home. For more information, or to see if you are eligible, contact the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Community Services Administration office.
Southwest Gas Corporation
LIRA (Low Income Ratepayer Assistance) Program:
This is a program offered by Southwest Gas Corporation that provides a 20% discount on the first 150 Therms used each month during November through April. Program eligibility is determined by the number of persons in your household as well as the total household gross annual income. To obtain more information, or to see if you are eligible, contact your local Southwest Gas office. The local office number appears on your bill.
LIEC (Low Income Energy Conservation) Program:
This is a program offered by Southwest Gas Corporation as well as the Arizona Energy Office. This program offers free energy audits, education in conservation and weatherization materials, which will increase energy efficiency and safety in your home. To obtain more information, or to see if you are eligible, contact your local Southwest Gas office.
Citizens Utilities
CARES (Citizens Assistance Residential Energy Support):
Offered by Citizens Utilities, this is a program that provides a discount to residential gas customers who meet certain income levels. This program includes a discount of gas bills based on your gas usage. You nay also save up to 15% of the commodity charge for the first 100 therms used each month during November through March.
