Arizona Corporation Commission to Take Public Comment on Proposed Disconnection Rules July 1

PHOENIX – The Arizona Corporation Commission will be holding the final of two telephonic oral proceedings at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in this telephonic meeting and give their thoughts and opinions on the Commission’s proposed disconnection rules.

At its April 2021 Open Meeting, the Corporation Commission voted to advance a proposed package of disconnection rules to the formal rulemaking process. These rules, once finalized, will set guidelines for when regulated electric utilities are prohibited from shutting off a customer’s power for nonpayment during periods of extreme heat or extreme cold. As part of the formal rulemaking process, oral proceedings are held. Comments received will be incorporated into the final Recommended Opinion and Order that will come before the Commission for a vote at a future Open Meeting.
