ACC to Host Annual Summer Preparedness Workshop

Phoenix, Ariz. —   The Arizona Corporation Commission will host its annual Summer Preparedness Workshop this Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to hear from the state’s largest utility providers about their plans to ensure peak demand can be met during the hot summer months this year.  Local utilities, including APS, TEP, and SRP, will deliver presentations to the Commission regarding their capacity and contingency plans.  Interstate gas pipeline companies, Kinder Morgan and Transwestern Pipeline Company, are also participating in the workshop, as well as representatives from Edison Electric Institute and Electric Power Research Institute.
 
In addition, utilities are expected to deliver presentations regarding wildfire risk management.  New this year, some electric utilities are adding a new strategy to be used during extremely high-fire risk conditions called Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).   This workshop is open to the public.  Public comment is encouraged, your input will help the Arizona Corporation Commission evaluate the ongoing preparedness of our regulated utilities.
